ainslie+ainslie: Social Design
2024

Task + ChallengeThe recovery supplement brand ainslie+ainslie, founded by British sailor Ben Ainslie and sports reporter Georgie Ainslie, approached Rodeo to create a set of dynamic social media templates aimed at boosting engagement across their platforms.

My task was to work within the brand guidelines established by Made Thought, adapting their existing rules and assets to develop eye-catching content that aligned with the brand’s energetic, fast-paced identity. The challenge was to ensure these templates were visually compelling while maintaining consistency with the brand’s overall aesthetic.

Design MechanicsI identified three core pillars of the brand—lifestyle, science, and sport—that would guide my design approach. By tailoring designs to each pillar, we were able to maintain a fresh and dynamic visual and contextual experience from post to post.

In the science pillar, I experimented with typography to create compelling hierarchies, emphasising the product’s professionalism and technical credibility. For the sport pillar, I played with typography to reflect the brand’s signature slash, and in some instances, used collapsing text to symbolise the balance between stability and playfulness. For the lifestyle pillar, I opted for a more minimalist approach, letting the images speak for themselves, accompanied by bold, impactful statements.

One of the highlights of the project was working with their brand’s signature yellow type against blue-toned images, which echoed our previous work on their Brand Film, shot on a blue athletics track. This colour combination subtly nods to the brand’s sailing roots—the blue representing the sea, while the yellow, with its high-visibility qualities, stands out boldly against it.
